John has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and is listed in Martindale’s Bar Register of Preeminent Layers. He practices in the areas of Business, Corporate, Paymaster, Real Estate, and Estate Planning; in both transactional and litigation matters.
He was a contributing editor for the Handbook for Incorporating a Business in California, published in 2006 by the Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. He was a member of the Corporations Committee that issued the California Opinion Reports in January 2002, which focused on Third Party Legal Opinions in the State of California, in connection with business transactions.
He has lectured to attorneys, “Covenant Not to Compete,” Continuing Education of the Bar, Berkeley, California, January 2003; and “Drafting and Negotiating an Alternative Dispute Resolution Clause,” Continuing Education of the Bar, The California State Bar, Huntington Beach, California, May 2004; “Alternative Dispute Resolution,” North Dakota Bar Association, San Jose, Costa Rica, March 2006; and Cabo San Lucas, March 2007; “Mediation for Non-Litigators,” The California State Bar, Anaheim, California, September 2007. John is a graduate of the American Arbitration Association’s mediation training program - 40 hours Mediator Skills Training (2003); and Center for Dispute Resolution, Advanced Business and Commercial Mediation Training (2007). He acts as a private Mediator, and as a Mediator on court appointed mediations for the Los Angeles County Superior Court Mediation Program since 2004, and as an approved Mediator for Attorney-Client Mediation and Arbitration Services for the Dispute Resolution Services, Inc. of Los Angeles County Bar Association.
He has represented individuals and companies in traditional business and contract disputes, including shareholder, board and partnership disputes, mergers and acquisitions, franchise disputes, employment, wrongful termination, and real estate litigation.
He has represented companies and individuals in negotiating and securing complex financial and sales agreements, and acted as a paymaster, fiduciary and escrow agent in complex financial transactions. He has represented individuals, and businesses in general business, healthcare, franchise, employment, and financial matters, including the choice of legal entity, joint venture and partnership agreements, hospital and medical group contracts, purchase and sale of businesses, and commercial and residential real estate transactions.
